New Crap

We have made a number of tweaks and changes recently; some are cosmetic, some are a bit more functional. Some of them are listed below, some of them you will stumble upon on your own. Some of them are behind the scenes and won’t be that noticable on the surface, such as our continued efforts to increase the speed in which pages are loaded, and the recent changes we have made to our search mechanism to return better results for a given query in the “related products” section.

  • First up, we have been playing around with our ‘QuickOrder’ feature to make it more useful, and more widely used. Go to any category, such as shocking pranks, and then click on the ‘QuickOrder‘ link ( in the top right) for each category. You will be presented with all of the products from that category on one page, with quantity input buttons. QuickOrder FeaturesGo down the list and add the quantities of each product you want, and then add all of those items to your cart with one click, at the bottom of the page.
This time saving feature was designed for resellers who are buying a large number of different products, but is also useful to customers who are already familiar with the products and don’t need to view each product description. We are still looking for a clean way to display the quantity discount tables for each product on the quickorder page, bare with us.

Customers who do want to view each individual product description (and larger images) would likely be better suited by using the “view as one page” link, which does just what you would think – displaying all of the products on a single page, for categories that spill into several pages.

  • Secondly, we have added a “add to del.icio.us” button on all product pages, and have cleaned up the other buttons a little (bookmark in IE, email a friend, aim). The average Zymetrical visitor isn’t terribly tech savy, so we suspect alot of people aren’t familiar with this service, but they have making alot of traction since Delicious Featurerecently joining Yahoo!. In a nutshell, it is a bookmarking service (similar to the bookmarks you currently have in your browser), but it can be accessed from any computer, and also gives you the ability to share your bookmarks with others, and vice versa. Not to mention the ability to tag things, which is definitely where the web is moving towards. Check it out.

We have also made it alot easier for customers to get large quantity quotes for any product on our site. If you need alot of something, say 500 of those screaming chickens, simply click on the link that says “Need alot of these?”, fill in a few blanks, and we will get back to you with a custom quote, pricing, and delivery times.

And, as always, we are striving to continue providing you with relevant related products in the sidebar of all product pages.

[...] Last, and certainly not least, we have made a few changes to our “quickorder” feature, which has been on the burner for a while. We have also made that more prominent by moving the link down with the other sorting features. The default link will take you to the specific subcategory you came from, but you can easily view all of the products currently in stock, across all categories, by clicking on “show all products“.
