Baseball Fans Strike Out With Free Gas

May 9th, 2008 @ 10:50 am by zymetric

About 8 hours from now, the Pensacola Pelicans will be hosting a ‘free gas night’. The first 4,000 baseball fans who show up will each receive, not a tank of gas, but a whoopee cushion so they can make the artificial kind. But the joke doesn’t end there – everyone in the stadium is going to sit on them at once.

This will be the Pelicans first event with whoopee cushions. They are following in the tradition of several other baseball teams who have used them for promotion, including the former world record holders Bowie Baysox who we worked with 2003, 2004, and 2005 (this event is sanctioned by Guinness). The Richmond Braves landed in the record books last fall with 2,513 fans wearing groucho glasses.

The first pitch is at 6:35 ET for anyone is interested, tickets are $7 – $9.

As an aside, we sent them several smelly samples that they were thinking about using in conjunction with this, but they were deemed, well too smelly.
