Shopping Cart Bug
October 23rd, 2008 @ 12:05 pm by zymetricFor the last couple of hours our shopping cart has been down on and off, meaning that many of you have not been able to place orders. We have received a few dozen emails about this, and will contact everyone else individually if you have not yet contacted us….
Many of you saw the following, or something similar on the second step of the checkout process:
msxml3.dll error '80072ee2'
includes/shipcalc/shipcaltools.asp line 179
That single line of code is the communication between our server and that of USPS’ server — which in a nutshell, is what calculates your shipping rates. Our server sends over the weight of your shopping cart, and then gets a total based on that weight. Usually this happens within a fraction of a second, but currently it is taking longer than 30seconds (thus creating a timeout error), or it is not happening at all, thus terminating the connection completely.
Someone is looking into this, but as a temporary measure we have deactivated USPS priority as a shipping method for the time being. USPS 1st class is calculated without any communication between their server and will work fine on orders weighing less than 13oz. For all other orders you will automatically be given UPS ground shipping. You can contact us directly if you would like to change that to USPS priority and we can do that for you manually.
We will update this post when we have more.
